How long does it take a coach to confirm my preferred timeslot(s)?

After you select and book a coach through your dashboard, he or she will confirm your preferred time within 24hrs.

How are coaching sessions facilitated?

Your coaching session will be conducted in the comfort of your home via phone call or video conference using free technology apps such as Skype, Facetime, Zoom, WhatsApp etc. In your first communication with your coach, you will agree on a technology platform that works best for the both of you.

Can I use this service if I’m based in another country?

Absolutely! However, there are two considerations you must take into account before purchasing any of our courses.

Many of our coaches are based in Australia, so you will need to factor in time differences when arranging coaching sessions. Some coaches will be happy to provide coaching services outside of normal Australian business hours (AEST) so please discuss this with your chosen coach.

At this stage our platform will only allow meetings to be scheduled in AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Any meetings arranged through your personal dashboard will display in AEST so please ensure you record your meeting in your own local time zone.

I’ve booked a session, but I haven’t heard from my coach. What should I do?

If it’s been over 24 hours and you haven’t been contacted by your coach, please contact us and a member of our team will help you to get connected.

What happens if I want to change my appointment?

If you need to change your appointment, contact your coach immediately. Coaches require a minimum of 24hours notice which allows them to rebook this time with other members. You can then work with your coach to schedule a new appointment that’s convenient for both of you.

Unless arranged with your coach you will not be able to receive a credit for the hours allocated to the coach.

If I choose a coach but they are not the right fit, can I change coaches?

When selecting a coach, it’s important to review each profile carefully to determine if their experience and areas of expertise will help you achieve your career goals. In the event you feel the fit is not right after your initial session, please contact us immediately so we can work with you to make things right.

What is career coaching, anyway?

If you’re new to this concept, here’s an overview of how it works, and why it’s worth investing .

Just like sports coaching, career coaching is all about optimising your performance and achieving your goals. Through YNG, you will connect with an experienced coach who’ll help you get where you want to go.

It’s a strategic process that involves working one-on-one with a career coach – at YNG this happens online so you can do it whenever and wherever suits. Throughout the process, your coach will ask lots of questions, some of them quite challenging. The idea is to give your coach a thorough understanding of your situation, strengths, areas for improvement and work preferences–to help you gain insight into these things yourself. Of course, all of this is kept confidential.

Many people have never had the opportunity to sit down and reflect on what they want out of their career, or why they’ve made certain decisions. This is the perfect time to focus on these issues and work out what your next step should be. By the end of your coaching journey, you’ll feel clearer about what you want, and have a plan how to get it.

The intention of coaching is to build your self-awareness, help you explore the career options that are available, and choosing a ‘next gig’ that will suit your skills and meet your needs. We will provide you with information on the changes to world of work and introduce you to gig economy and point out emerging industries and jobs.

We use an approach that’s called ‘self-directed learning’, meaning you’re encouraged to take ownership of your own development. While our coaches share knowledge on things like writing a CV or applying for jobs, they won’t do this for you – as we believe there’s much to be gained from hands-on experience.

Our coaching will cover areas like:

• Dealing with the stress of career transition
• Assessing your skills and strengths
• Defining career objectives
• Applying for and securing jobs
• Identifying or creating opportunities

Coaching can be useful for people at all different career stages, but you’ll reap maximum rewards if you’re:

• Serious about developing your career plan and acting on it
• Receptive to feedback (even if it’s not what you want to hear)
• Willing to be honest in all coaching discussions
• Open to trying new ways of thinking and behaving
• Committed to completing any homework your coach gives you

If you think you tick the boxes above, sounds like coaching could be a great option for you!
